‘The must-have accessory’ Eve

Classic style never goes out of fashion. Since Coco Chanel invented it in 1926, the little black dress has become every woman’s wardrobe staple. It can be a sign of belonging or a sign of individuality, a way to hide or a way to stand out. Fifteen women of varied backgrounds, including Stella Duffy, Kate Mosse, Candia McWilliam, Muriel Gray, Morag Joss, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, Jean Marsh and Michelle Berry, offer a colourful range of views on the little black dress, all tailored by Susie Maguire into a simply stunning and elegant collection.

‘Some of today’s most talented female writers explore the notion of the LBD . . . an engaging collection of tales that range from quirky, funny and true-to-life, to downright disturbing.’ Heat ****

Susie Maguire used to do stand-up, sing a capella, and present TV programmes. She has performed on stage, radio, film and TV, and was a book columnist for The Herald. Susie’s first short story collection, The Short Hello (Polygon, 2000), was read on BBC Radio 4, as were several stories from her second collection, Furthermore (Polygon, 2005). Susie was also contributing editor to Scottish Love Stories (1995), Hoots! (1997) and Something Wicked (2000), all published by Polygon.
